Farmers across Wales have officially adopted the month of February to celebrate all things dairy, to help promote the nutritious calcium packed glass of milk.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and farmer’s son, Samuel Kurtz MS, is now using his position in the Welsh Parliament to encourage others to raise a glass of the white stuff and take part in the campaign, which has been dubbed FebruDairy.
The initiative which launched today (1st February) has seen farmers utilise social media to help promote the dairy industry to a wider audience.
Speaking about the campaign, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“A glass of milk in the morning may just be that to some – but for the farmers that produce that calcium packed glass of milk, it is from hours of hard work and commitment.
“But it’s not just calcium crammed into that small glass. It’s bursting with other important vitamins such as vitamin B12, vitamin A and protein.
“As we look to improve our overall wellbeing and maintain a healthy, balanced diet – dairy has an important part to play in giving us the nutrients we need to be healthy while also supporting our important domestic agricultural industry.
