Samuel Kurtz, Member of the Senedd for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, will this weekend be taking part in the RSPB’s nationwide Big Garden Birdwatch.
This year’s event takes place between the 28th-30th January 2022, with members of the public being asked to spend one hour watching and recording birds in their garden or local park to then submit their results to RSPB.
Last year in Wales, a whopping 53,279 people took part in the event, double the previous year’s participation numbers and returning 33,385 surveys.
Speaking about the event, avid birdwatcher and local politician Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“Over the past two years, we’ve all seen first-hand how important the natural world is to our mental health and wellbeing; and what better place to take part in a nationwide birdwatch than beautiful West Wales?
“Our gardens, beaches, cliffs and parks are alive with wildlife, from Pembrokeshire’s Atlantic Puffin to Sparrow Hawks and Buzzards, you couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to take part.
