Commenting on his questions to the Minister for Rural Affairs, Welsh Conservative Shadow Rural Affairs Minister, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“There is a real sense of concern within Wales’ farming sector that an already small budget will be further slashed by the Welsh Labour Government.
“With £337 million already committed by the UK Government for agriculture and for every pound invested in agriculture, there is a £9 return to the wider economy, I pushed for the Minister to commit all that £337 million to support Welsh farmers in next year’s BPS.
“Unfortunately, the Minister refused to confirm that she would protect the budget, which will cause further worry to an already beleaguered industry. If Plaid Cymru abstain on the budget vote, then they are just as culpable in failing Welsh farmers through supporting these cuts.”
