A total of £5.8million of UK Government funds will be invested into grassroot projects across Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
The recipients of the UK Government’s new Community Renewal Fund (CRF) range from organisations tasked with rejuvenating Pembroke’s Town Walls, to those ensuring the history of Carmarthenshire’s Old Towns is taught to future generations.
The Community Renewal Fund – announced by Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Michael Gove MP – will pilot new programmes that invest in people, boost skills, and support local economies. Across Wales, 160 projects are set to receive a share of £46 million in UK Government funds.
Speaking following the announcement, Samuel Kurtz local Member of the Senedd for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, said:
“This is further great news for a whole range of different projects in both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire and, following the £54.5million of Levelling Up Funding for our two counties, it’s yet another example of the UK Government’s commitment to investing in West Wales.
“As we bounce back from the pandemic, it’s investment – just like what’s been announced today – that will lead to a boost in jobs, skills and support for our local economy.
“Today’s announcement should be welcomed right across the board. Everyone will benefit from this new pot of funding and I look forward to seeing it spent in communities right across Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.”
