Thanks to the contributions of local National Lottery players, community organisations across Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire have been awarded a total of £125,981 in support since September 2021.
A whole range of projects have been allocated National Lottery funding, including Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development Ltd; an organisation aimed at working with local town and community councils to facilitate and empower young people to engage with local democratic and decision-making forums.
Speaking following the announcement, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“This is fantastic news for a whole range of community-based organisations in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.
“I’m especially pleased to hear that Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development is a key benefactor of National Lottery Funding.
“It’s a fantastic project which aims to empower young people, enabling them to contribute to the life of their community and ensure their voices are heard.”
Another key project to receive National Lottery backing is Carmarthenshire’s People First project; an independent charity that aims to promote independent advocacy, support and training for adults with learning disabilities.
Samuel continued: “This is yet more incredibly welcomed news. The work that Carmarthenshire’s People First project does is vital in ensuring that adults with learning disabilities can live the life they so choose.”
“It’s important that those with learning disabilities are a part of the decision-making processes that affect their own lives, that’s why the work that People First do is so important in empowering those with learning disabilities.”
