Commenting on the news that Carmarthenshire County Council was successful in their dual-bid for the UK Government’s Levelling up fund, the local MS for Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“I’m delighted that Carmarthenshire County Council has been successful in its dual bid for the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund - totalling £36.8 million worth of investment.
“The Welsh Government is set to get £2.5 billion, the largest ever block grant since devolution, while West Wales will welcome a huge injection of investment from the UK Government, showing the benefits of our United Kingdom in real terms.
“I’m sure Carmarthenshire’s Council Leader and his colleagues will join me in welcoming this move. As a result of today’s UK Government budget, the green light can now be given for Carmarthen’s multi-use and multi-agency development Hwb, alongside the buying of land which will help deliver the Towy Valley shared-use path between Carmarthen and Llandeilo.
“I look forward to seeing this investment being spent at the direct benefit of the people of Carmarthenshire.”
