Last week, Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire MS, Samuel Kurtz met with representatives from Marie Curie at the Welsh Parliament to discuss the importance and accessibility of end-of-life care in West Wales.
Marie Curie Cymru provides care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in hospices, care homes and households across the country. The organisation is the largest charitable funder of palliative and end of life care research in the UK.
As well as lending his support to the charity, Samuel also discussed the importance of access to end-of-life care and championed the charity’s free information and support services.
Samuel commented; “Marie Curie is a fantastic organisation that goes above and beyond the call of duty in delivering frontline care support to local communities across Wales.
“Talking about end-of-life care is, of course, an incredibly difficult subject. But knowing what palliative services are on hand should they be needed, is important in ensuring that we have the support and care we need, when we’re at our most vulnerable.”
Lowri Griffiths, Head of Policy and Public Affairs, Wales, for Marie Curie, added: “To have the support of Samuel makes a huge difference to Marie Curie. With Samuel’s help, we are able to raise awareness about what we do and reach more people who need us and encourage more conversations around end of life care, which are needed now more than ever.”
